Building on the substantial interest in the Sex and Spine sessions as Spineweek 2016, NSpine is proud to continue and expand the Sex & Spine sessions to daily keynotes for all attendees and a detailed whole day therapists course on managing sexual dysfunction related to spinal disorders.
Recent research has revealed sexual dysfunction to be significantly prevalent in patient with spinal conditions – ranging from body image concerns in adolescent scoliosis through impairment through back pain to sexual dysfunction in neurological deficits. These aspects are widely prevalent yet equally often avoided in consultation through lack of knowledge on therapeutic options and social taboos. The daily keynotes provide the most relevant updates on knowledge in this field by an experienced team of lecturers who have dedicated significant time to researching this subject.
The therapists course goes into greater detail on the actual practical management of patients presenting with sexual disorders in a unique relaxed multidisciplinary setting.
The sessions are embedded in the NSpine main event and delegates have full access to all lecture halls.
The daily Sex and the Spine keynote lectures are designed to provide an overview of:
The physiology of male and female sexuality
The impact on sexual health by spinal conditions
Sexual history taking
Current treatment concepts in sexual therapy relevant to spinal disorders and neurological compromise
The dedicated Sex and Spine Therapists Sessions are structured as multidisciplinary discussion groups on therapeutic concepts in the management of patients with different types of sexual dysfunction due to spinal conditions and neurological deficits.
