Nuno Neves

Nuno Neves is an orthopaedic surgeon at Centro Hospitalar Universitário São João, where he is Head of the Orthopaedic Spine Team, and Hospital CUF, Porto, Portugal. He completed his residency in Orthopaedics in 2006 at Centro Hospitalar São João, a spine surgery fellowship in Paris, France, and a visiting spine fellowship in Philadelphia, USA in 2008. He has special interest in trauma surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, and adult deformities.

Dr. Neves is a Professor of Orthopaedics at the Department of Surgery and Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto and earned his PhD degree in 2017 with the doctoral thesis entitled “Strontium rich hybrid injectable material for bone regeneration”. He has been supervisor of several Master theses in Medicine and Bioengeneering, and member of juris in public exams of PhD and Masters in Medicine. He is a researcher at i3S – Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, University of Porto. He has collaborated in national and international research projects. He has successfully completed a Post-graduation Course on Healthcare Management at Católica Porto Business School.

Dr. Neves is currently Secretary-General of the Portuguese Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (SPOT) and the Portuguese Spine Society (SPPCV), and Portuguese delegate of the European Federation of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT). He has served as Chairman of AOSpine – Portuguese Council, and President of the Spine Section of the Portuguese Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (SPOT).
Dr. Neves has authored and co-authored 32 papers in indexed scientific journals, 6 book chapters, and 25 other publications. He is Deputy Editor of the Portuguese Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. He has been reviewer for several scientific journals. He is a frequent lecturer and faculty member in national and international scientific meetings.
